Burgas State University Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov – Faculty of Medicine Overview
Prof. Dr. Assen Zlatarov University, located in Burgas, is the only state university in Southeastern Bulgaria. Established in 1963, it began as the Higher Institute of Chemical Technology and has grown into a multidisciplinary institution. In 1995, it was officially named after its patron.
The university offers education through five faculties: Technical Sciences, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Public Health and Health Care, and Medicine. It also includes three colleges and two departments focusing on language education and professional qualification.
The university boasts six academic buildings, a modern sports facility, three student hostels, canteens, and a medical center. It also provides extensive library and digital research access via databases like Scopus and ScienceDirect.
